Side Trippers - Overnight stay in Munich

Greetings from Munich, home to brauhaus and BMW's!  Speaking of the latter, we had rented a BMW through Hertz and upon pick-up were told that we cannot drive it to Italy as there is too a high risk for damage and theft.  We later exchanged it for a Volvo that runs on diesel.

We were beyond tired from getting a few winks on the plane and after and a full day of walking through the Residence Museum.  We visited the world's largest beer hall, the HofBrauhaus and had beer and Bavarian pork knuckle and dumplings.

Still trying to figure out how to post photos on this blog.  Stay tuned!

Day 1 - By Alison Lloyd

Hello everyone! Guten Morgen! Day one was very tiring but a great success. The kids were fantastic on the plane, enjoyed a sight seeing tour of Munich (an interesting lunch of egg on ham with pickled potatoes......) all was eaten by the way, and then a stroll through the beautiful market square in Munich. After a well needed shower and short nap we dressed up and headed to Salzburg where we attended the Marionetten Theatre and a backstage tour to meet the puppets. Very interesting. Back at the hotel everyone went straight to bed and didn't even hear the storm. We have just had breakfast and are heading to Salzburg! More updates to come later today.

Last minute packing tidbits...

Thanks Alison for the tip on baby wipes!  You may also want to bring a large garbage bag to store soiled clothing.  Also, don't forget to label your suitcase, garment bag, and carry-on luggage to quickly identify your luggage (e.g. print your initials with liquid paper on black luggage).  Happy packing!
